On Canto da Barra beach, in an 8-hectare area with a 1.5-kilometer stretch of beach where the Jaguaribe River meets the sea, is the Jaguaribe Lodge & Kite, a hotel with a unique architectural design that has transformed tourism on the “Route of the Cliffs”, or the Costa do Sol Nascente, as it is known among the people of Ceará.

With just 23 luxury bungalows with sea, garden, pool or dune views, and built on stilts so that the local vegetation and dunes remain untouched, the hotel offers a unique experience of privacy, ecotourism, sustainability and sport.

The hotel was the brainchild of French businessmen Jean-Michel and Celian Chaufour, the same founders of Fortim’s first luxury hotel, Vila Selvagem. The founders were enchanted by the beauty of the municipality and saw the tourist potential of the young town.

Designed to keep the local culture ever-present and nature preserved, the structure of Jaguaribe Lodge is made of reforested wood, built in a suspended fashion. The roof is made of carnauba straw, a tree typical of the region. All the lodges have muxarabis, which allow plenty of fresh sea breezes to circulate and eliminate the need for air conditioning, thus reducing the emission of pollutants into the air. Another detail: there are no televisions, because the idea is that integration with nature is complete and that people can enjoy the beautiful image of the turquoise sea.

Jaguaribe Lodge also stands out for its kitesurfing facilities. Located right next door, the hotel has a sports center focused on kitesurfing, which offers classes for different ages, levels and types of sailing. In addition to the location being ideal for practicing and learning with good winds and warm, calm waters, the center also has equipment rental, a bar, support for experienced sailors, among other benefits. The center also has the Jaguaribe Arena, a space with 4 beach tennis courts that can be used by guests and visitors.

Another highlight of the hotel is the bread made in the La Boulangerie bakery within the complex, which uses the traditional levain technique and has a wide variety ranging from baguette, ciabatta, brioche, pain de campagne to delicious croissants and pain et chocolat, which can be enjoyed at breakfast with artisan jams.
